Notes
- Woodside Grange
In 1874 Dr James Turle commissioned the construction of a grand house on the site of Woodside Farm, to serve as the family home and also a surgery. Thomas Cubitt, London, constructed it and decided on the castellated roof lines and rendered walls. In the early 1870's a Lodge was built to house the coachman and his family. The exact dates of the completion of these buildings is unknown but can be placed between 1880 and 1890. By the turn of the century Dr Turle had purchased a new house near the Grange and the latter was rented to a Mr A Nicholson, who, however stayed only a few months. The new tenant Mr Benjamin Davis, stayed 20 years. In 1922, the house was sold to Mr Derry, of Derry and Toms department store fame. Mr Derry found the Grange too large when his three sons and a daughter grew up . He moved to Hampstead in the spring of1928 and the house remained unsold for some months. The house later became a school house.Researched by Peter Santamaria published atwww.finchleycatholic.org.uk/old-boys-albanian-history.asp
