Thomas's death ws registered by Caroline Ruffley. Caroline, born in Henley-on-Thames, was variously a charwoman and a monthly nurse helping mothers for the first month after childbirth. She lived in the Barnes and Mortlake area and had most recently gone to live in Coulstone's Alms Houses in Upper Sheen Lane. Still sprightly for her age Caroline used her nursing skills to tend to Thomas in his last days and indeed was with him when he died. Caroline lived in Mortlake until she died aged 87 years.
