Notes
- In 1871 Mary was living at the home of William Shapley as a lodger. Another lodger at the house was Elizabeth Pine, age 20, also from Taunton and working as a silk thrower. Elizabeth Pine and Robert Mitchell married in same quarter as Mary and George.
The Silk throwing factory on banks of the Otter was worked by W Wood Esq employing more than 150 hands - History, Gazeteer and Directory of Devon 1878-9
